Families’ Activity Breaks

Families’ Activity Breaks (FAB) is a non-public funded, tri-service charity (registered charity no. 1178108), providing fun and challenging activity camps around the UK for bereaved Military families.

What is FAB?

A FAB Camp is a fully-paid* week away for bereaved military families; a welcome break to meet and socialise with others who have experienced a similar loss. Find our more about this year's camps and the type of activities which were on offer.

Eligibility

If your child is 19 years old or younger on the first day of camp, and has suffered the loss of a parent or family member while serving in the British Armed Forces, then you may be eligible for a FAB camp. Priority is given to families who fall into the above category, however military families who have suffered a bereavement outside of this criteria will be considered by the committee on a case-by-case basis.

Volunteers

FAB is staffed by volunteers from the Armed Forces, Defence civilians, and Ex-Service personnel - helping as mentors, lending a helping hand or simply being someone to talk to. They are all trained to support children and young adults facing bereavement.

Want to know more?

If you can't find the information you need on this website, the easiest way is to get hold of us is to use the contact form. We are staffed by volunteers (all with full-time jobs) so please be patient; we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as we can. We also have Ambassadors, who are families who have attended camps, and are willing to talk to you about what you can expect on a FAB camp.
