1 May 2010 to 8 May 2010 - Caythorpe Court, Caythorpe Heath Ln, Caythorpe, Grantham
On 1st May 2010, a team of 17 people made up from Military personnel, YHA staff and friends took part in a sponsored bike ride from YHA Coverack in Cornwall to YHA Whitby in North Yorkshire. The team rode 600 miles through villages, towns and cities and discovered that there are a lot more hills (and steep ones at that) throughout England. Remembering the bereaved Military families they were doing this ride for, determination and a lot of ‘deep heat’ is what spurred them on to the finish.
What a week it was for both the cyclists and the support crew. Friendships were made and the YHA team learned a lot from the Military personnel about the importance of team work and preparation for the following day. During the ride, the team stopped in Wootton Bassett for lunch – a poignant reminder of the reasons behind the ride. Between them, the team raised over £20,000 for FAB, thanks to every single one of them and to everyone who donated.
